2014 LEGAL INTERNSHIP ESSAY COMPETITION
The Hispanic Attorneys Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association is pleased to announce that an unpaid summer internship in the Judicial Chambers of the Honorable Carlota M. Böhm of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania,located in downtown Pittsburgh, will be awarded to a local Hispanic/Latino college student who is entering his/her junior or senior year, and who is interested in pursuing a career in law.
The recipient of the internship will receive meaningful hands-on experience and exposure to cases in litigation, court hearings, and the workings of a judge's chambers. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in a career in law and who are looking for a rewarding experience that will inform future career decisions.
To apply for the internship, please submit the following:
1. A resume with detailed contact information, including phone number and email address; and
2. An essay (not to exceed 1000 words*) that addresses the following question: In your opinion, based upon your studies and life experience, what is the most pressing area of legal concern today?
Additional requirements and information:
Final candidates for the internship will be contacted for an interview. The internship schedule is flexible, over a 10-week period, and will be determined by the supervising attorney at the internship location. Up to three (3) academic credits may be available.
